Holding Space


That picture is meant to hold space for me, its serene beauty to calm me. Everything feels dire, even though intellectually, I know it's not as dire as I'm making it. I know you don't know what I'm talking about and that's probably best. The picture's pretty anyway.

  1. I know this post isn't really about the picture, but that IS a remarkable picture. It looks like a painting. A Georgia O'Keeffe, maybe.

    No matter how dire things may feel, you're still seeing beauty, and that's a good thing!

  4. Mary is giving you great advice. What Steve said is so right too, that is a beautiful picture and that you see beauty. I think you have such beautiful eyes, I'm always drawn to them in your photos through the years. I'm not surprised at their ability to see beauty too.

  5. Sorry, I feel like a lurker, but I did see your original post, just didn't have time to compose a comment ... and it seems like a valid enough reason to feel that things are dire. Everyday chores, made harder than they need to be, on top of pain, on top of depression ... see them for what they are: a load on the camel, plus the straw that broke the camel's back. Too many heavy burdens at once. If you can do something, no matter how small, about one of them, it will lighten the load. Hugs, Angella.

  7. Sweet Rosemary! I so wish there were more I could do...other than tell you how this will pass and we are all with you and love you and to go easy and be gentle with yourself. This month is all about radical change and learning to lean into instead of resist. A good friend told me it's time for me to adopt and live in Radical Self Love. I am taking it as my new mantra and passing it on to you.

  9. Thank you for this amazing picture. I also recommend tea, and taking the time to sit and drink it slowly, smelling and tasting it as if for the first time. It forces me to breathe in and out more slowly too, and I have been really working on slow calm breathing when I'm freaking out, which is almost a daily affair. I think we all have plenty to hyperventilate over and I think the cortisol builds up in our systems and we get stuck in fight or flight and never get to stand down, because every day is a new crisis or potential disaster.
    Breathe, in and out and reach out, hug anybody standing nearby you care to hug. I'll be thinking good thoughts for you. xo
