Dr. Ellamae Simmons is turning 100!

And I'll be there. I'm flying out to San Francisco today, staying in Oakland and attending the March for Our Lives in the morning, and Ellamae's festivities in the afternoon. I hear she's very quiet these days. She no longer talks on the phone. Our paths crossed just in time. She talked a lot when she was 97 and 98 and she told me all her stories. It was the privilege of a lifetime. I can't wait to see her again.

  3. Safe journeys to you. I love knowing we're going to be in the same time zone. I'm 270 miles north of San Francisco. We'll be out marching tomorrow as well.

  6. Have a wonderful time, and if you feel it's appropriate, can you let Dr. Simmons know that people from around the world are thinking of her and wishing her a happy birthday . . .

I've been meaning to ask what is the best way to order this book - is there a way that best compensates you as the author?

  9. A memorable birthday and marching weekend ahead. Have put in a request for Overcome at our local public library. They will either purchase it or notify me when they have located a copy via the interlibrary loan system.

  11. I just looked this book up on Amazon, which led me to your author page. I had NO IDEA you'd written so many books! Where have I been?! Anyway, we should get this one for our school library. I'm on it!

I'm so happy for you that you've been given the blessing of meeting this marvelous woman. And the blessing that you and she will receive when you meet again.
I'm proud of you for joining the march. I'll look forward to hearing all about all of this!
