I have all these dreams (literally) of having to deal with so much stuff in a house and yet, yes- at this age, we have acquired an awful lot which is filled with meaning and memory for us. Well, I'm older than you but you've had more relatives, I think.
It's so beautiful that your daughter is going to be able to live in that apartment. Her beloved grandmother's space which yes, she WILL make her own but will somehow always retain a spirit which will watch over her and make her remember she is loved. The bathroom is just the catalyst. With so much going on in the world, it is things like getting a bathroom repaired that breaks that camels back. I know I lose it over the smallest of things. If someone cuts me off in traffic and I get angry. I know in my heart it is not about the person who cut me off in traffic.
But as I read further., I wonder if dealing with parting with your mom's things is another part of your physical connection to her disappearing? Your grief is still so fresh. Grief takes us in bits and pieces instead of all at once.
You don't need to be zen. Having the realization that you are not is the whole point. Be good to yourself.
