Love.

Dierdre, i took so many pictures of my mom while I was there, and of the corners of her house, of the things, the objects that I took for granted growing up, which now seemed to shiver with import. i wouldnt even take the camera to the beach because I was afraid to lose it, to lose the photographs of my mother and her things. So i am especially glad the pictures speak to you. I was trying to capture something and you make me feel that I did.

ellen, from your very first comment here, all the way back when I started, we realized that our mothers are so similar, and our relationship with them, too. You should definitely photograph your mother at this stage. There is such a dignity to them, we can learn from them. As for sharing the photograph, I think it depends on whether you think you mom would mind. If you're not sure, ask her. My mom doesn't mind me sharing her photographs even though she doesn't quite know what a blog is and I have purposefully not shared the address of this one with her. She hasn't asked. She seldom goes online anymore. I would be inhibited in what I write here if she were a reader. I would not want to distress her in any way, and I would censor myself. I need to not censor myself, for my own sanity!

grady doc, thank you, dear woman. I am glad you are here.37paddingtonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12400464105403622384noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9107151958453669111.post-40075687001933865242011-06-26T00:53:37.546-04:002011-06-26T00:53:37.546-04:00Gasping. Thank you, Angella, I feel like I know your mother so well.

Looking at the last photo of your mother and your daughter, I realized your mother's bed is almost identical to my mother's. Seeing this makes me want to take similar photos of my mother and her life in the retirement home. I have always resisted doing that because I fear that I'm not good enough to do justice to her.

Also, I am not sure how she'd feel about my sharing her picture on the internet. Does your mother know about your blog? I've showed Facebook to my mother, which kind of delights her even though she's also a little confused by it, but I've never tried to explain my blog to her. I'd like you know your thoughts, if you care to share them.

And I hope you are feeling better. :)~ellen~https://www.blogger.com/profile/00315658592077559215noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9107151958453669111.post-25932129781005000592011-06-25T12:19:45.048-04:002011-06-25T12:19:45.048-04:00What a family you have. I know I have seen it. And that is why I recognize it with such warm feeling in your relationship with Owen. It is wondrous, and it will be his rock. If ever you have a moment's doubt about that, call up the sound of "Mer Mer!" It is the most beautiful sound, imagining it. Love.

Debra, you know, I did think to send her this picture of her with her granddaughter! I know it would end up in her bible, blessed with the rest. Love to you, dear one.

Elizabeth, thank you, sweet friend, for such an open-hearted reading and looking into the photos. Thank you, most of all, for being here.
