It finally snowed in New York. I sat at the window and watched the finest flakes swirling down all day, dusting the earth in tiny sparkles. I was snug and warm inside my house, being a good little schoolgirl from morning till night, trying to get my work done. Things are a bit intense, but I'm all the way in, and the journey is thrilling sometimes. Life is never just one thing, and I'm learning to just breathe and go with that. Ooop, gotta go. My nephew has been here since Thursday. He's on his way back to college upstate after his winter break in Jamaica, and his ride just arrived. I'm heading downstairs into this freezing cold day to greet his traveling companions and help him pack the car.

Lovely photograph. Sending love to you and your family. Always inspired by your faithfulness to your writing process. Waiting for the first snow of the year to melt here in the northwest corner of Washington State.
ReplyDeleteam, snow is beautiful in your corner of the world.
DeleteThank you for the tiny sweet peek into your busy, snowy day. You are a good auntie! Stay cozy.
ReplyDeleteMary, I am now the auntie to my nieces and nephews that all my mother's sisters were to me. I had good auntie examples!
DeleteThat photo is so different from your summer one; a different reality and a different mood. We have sun and sparkle on a pile of snow here - the best of winter. But the snow is now deep enough that the athletic daughter was puffing after a snowshoe run. Not long before the deer have to yard up.
ReplyDeleteMary, it's why I love that window--so many different moods pass in front of it during the course of a year. Lovely to have your daughter there with you.
DeleteThat is a beautiful dusting of snow. It's been snowing here, off and on all day, and everything looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind a winter break in Jamaica, sounds wonderful. Don't work too hard.
Pixie, I hope you do go to Jamaica!
DeleteI love a little bit of snow, which we haven't really had yet this year. So thanks for the wintry picture.:)
ReplyDeleteSteve, I notice that London doesn't have much snow these days. My parents lived in London as newlyweds, when my dad was in law school, and almost all their photos from that time feature snowy backdrops. Climate change is real.
DeleteIt's lovely to see that winter scene out your window. Nice to be snug and warm indoors and able to enjoy the view. (NewRobin13)
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to be stuck inside nice and cozy from the snow. Glad you are getting your work done. I've had 2 good books to read while I wait for the snow to melt. The Woman They Could Not Silence by Kate Moore and Black AF HIstory by Michael Harriot. Both are leaving me sad and angry but more knowledgeable!
ReplyDeleteEllen, I so stoked that you've discovered Black AF History by Michael Harriot. I think he's brilliant. I will need to check out The Woman they Could Not Silence, thanks for the reference.
Deletebetter thee than me as far as snow is concerned.
ReplyDeleteellen, better me, so long as I'm enjoying it from indoors. Those icy sidewalks are treacherous for my wonky hip.
DeleteIt snowed in Spokane, now it's raining. It's good to be here. Your view of it is lovely.
ReplyDeleteAllison, will you be going back to Spokane?
DeleteSafe journey to your nephew!
ReplyDeleteThank you, dear Kristin!
DeleteThe picture, as others have said, is beautiful. In the UK we are having another storm , and today heavy rain . But I have a roof over my head, am warm , and have food unlike so many others . The weather matches my mood - grieving, anxious, feeling insignificant
ReplyDeleteSiobhan x
Siobhan, is this your first time here? I understand so much how the outer weather can reflect our internal mood. I hope you feel better soon. Thank you for sharing here.
DeleteSafe travels to them and may you stay warm!
ReplyDeletee, thank you! They made it back to the wintery north safely!
DeleteI love that picture.
ReplyDeleteThank you, jenny. I never tire of the view from that window.
