Did y’all catch that press conference with the newly certified (and certifiable) red emperor today? Did you hear all the talk of annexing Canada, forcibly wresting Greenland from Denmark, taking back the Panama Canal, and renaming the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America? Hooo boy, it’s going to be a wild ride. I think we have no idea.

  1. Codex: Staying well informed will be increasingly more difficult. None of that will happen nor is he going to try. He is going to bully those countries for natural resources. Profit margins will be increased. Cost of living will go up. Panama has very fair prices for transport of goods.insulting them is a bad idea.

  2. Missed the news conference. I can't stand to listen to that man's voice. I know he's been talking about Greenland again. Junior and Charlie Kirk of all people are over there right now to start the negotiations. Hadn't heard about the rest of it. Renaming the Gulf of Mexico? Does he not understand that Mexico is part of the Americas? of course not. I did read that the Senate Speaker has assured Trump that Hegseth has the votes. We are doomed.

  3. This has become over the top ridiculous. We need to build underground housing and a whole new world. Crazy, just crazy.

  4. The guy likes to throw sh** up against the wall to see what sticks. Everything is a negotiation or a point for bartering.
He also likes to send shock waves through the system.
Expect more of the same. It's going to be a long 4 years.

  5. What Codex said...the emperor is coming for our resources. Speaking of art though, remember Shakespeare's Julius Caesar? Figuratively speaking, all politicians face the Ides of March, eventually. (It just happened to PM Trudeau.)

  6. It is going to be a veeeeeeery long four years. One wonders what will be left of this country. There were clips of the orange one talking about faucets with no water, Greenland and Panama. His dementia was looking very strong today.

  7. I wonder if it's foolish of me to hope that every time we hear or read a deranged statement from your future president and/or his henchmen and carpetbaggers, the sane Americans are quietly coming together in growing numbers to prevent the worst and work for the best?

    1. Codex: I'm hoping for the same pragmatic approach. There is a saying; when a magician (the non fantasy kind) performs a trick, watch what the other hand is doing that you're not supposed to focus on. Inin a question/answer period he clarified "economic warfare" and that he doesn't care. Dismissing him as crazy underestimates how dangerous he is.

  8. It's one thing to have a demented, deranged president. It's another to have an entire body of the government who supports him and kisses the ring every time he opens that anal mouth to vomit more hatred and insanity.
In answer to Sabine's comment- I wish I thought that were true. Maybe it is. I had more hope for it in his first presidency.

  9. It's scary, Rosemarie. I think he is trying to distract from any legal problems he still has but why does he want to make enemies out of our allies?! Crazy.

  10. I am so worried about the future of our country and our planet. We are in the hands of the dangerously crazy and selfish. (NewRobin13)

  11. I was just saying the same thing to Dave. I hope it's just Trump babbling his usual off-the-cuff crazy. The prospect of waging war on Denmark is simultaneously ridiculous, humiliating and horrifying. The "Gulf of America" thing -- fine, let him try to change the name. No one will call it that. It'll be like "Freedom Fries" -- forgotten in no time.

  12. I rather liked the President of Mexico's response. Showing him to be the imbecile he is. https://www.axios.com/2025/01/08/mexican-president-responds-trump-america-mexicana

  14. Our Prime Minister's comment was something like "there is a snowball's chance in hell we will become part of the States."
Indeed, especially with him running things. Ah well. We all knew there was such a thing as an 'Ugly American', and now we have the perfect example.
Not you guys, no. His coterie of little serfs.

  15. I don't think he's crazy at all. I think he's a very bad man. I don't know what to think at all these days. I like Lidia Yuknavitch's "Write in the face of fuck."

  16. He is mentally unsound and unstable, but a lot of the crazy tends to be a distraction for the nefarious stuff going on behind the scenes. If you are paying attention to the sleight of Hand, then what they don't want you to notice is already being put into place without anyone paying attention. He is a National embarrassment, the World is laughing and yet exceedingly nervous at the same time... you cannot have the Lunatics running the Asylum, both our Allies and our Adversaries know this fact and that America is imploding from within with Evil and Unstable at the helm now.
