Our son is all better from his bout with Covid. To celebrate his release from quarantine on day ten, he went for a solo hike in the Hudson Valley before driving to New Jersey to pick up his fiancée from her parents' house, where she had been since he tested positive just after Christmas. He said he felt restored being outdoors in nature again, rather than staring at the walls of his home. He's back at work today, ready to fight fires and otherwise "serve and protect" his fellow citizens. He's made for this. Not for the first time, he reflected that if he'd had to stay home at the start of Covid lock downs, instead of going out each day and doing his part as a member of New York's Bravest, he would have slowly lost his mind. I guess there was always a purpose brewing for the little boy who wore us out because he never stopped moving.
A beautiful man out in beautiful nature. A really good day.
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear he is recovered and back out!
ReplyDeleteIt is a joy to see your son thriving the way he does. Love this set of photos from his celebratory solo hike. Thank you so much for sharing them.
ReplyDeleteSo good to know that he is well and was out there hiking in beautiful Hudson Valley, and now is back at work protecting and serving. He's a mensch!
ReplyDeleteBless that lad! so glad to hear that he is just fine and fine he is!!Xx
ReplyDeletePleased to hear that he is now well.
ReplyDeleteThe pride you feel in that young man of yours must overwhelm your heart sometimes.
ReplyDeleteNot to mention the love.
Glad he is feeling better. What a beautiful hike!
ReplyDeleteHe's a fine photographer as well as all his other talents and handsome face. But I know what you mean about raising him. We raised a similar daughter - I used to run her on a rope and halter from time to time to keep her alive and safe.
ReplyDeleteYou do make beautiful children, inside and out.
ReplyDeleteHe must be so relieved to be out and about again!
ReplyDeleteBeing outside, among the trees, away from everything, always makes me feel better too. I'm glad he's better and able to go back to work.
ReplyDeleteI would have gone mad being stuck at home too when the lock downs started.
The news about the terrible apartment fire in NY is being well covered here in our news. I hope that if your boy was involved he is not too distressed by the loss of life....especially so many children.
ReplyDeleteAck! I missed your post. I am so happy that's he's out of quarantine. That's a beautiful area to hike in, just lovely.
