Her grandma across the courtyard will share with us the pleasure of this darling little girl’s company for a week while her parents attend a dentists conference in Maryland and then a romantic getaway for a few days. Lord, but she’s sweet, lots of words now, knows her own mind, personality and main character energy to spare. Wish us luck and lots of imagination! My daughter was going to sleep over and share in the fun with her goddaughter but she and her husband went to a wedding in Arizona last weekend and she came back sick with what she thought was the flu. She went to urgent care to get checked, only to discover she has Covid. She’s all alone with it over there in Brooklyn, because her husband had to go to Chicago for work this week. They were still under the impression it was the flu when he left, but he’s feeling fine, no symptoms at all, and by the time he gets back this weekend she won’t be contagious any more so that part is good. She was supposed to travel to Boston next week for work but will likely cancel that meeting (one still feels fatigued in the week after recovery from Covid) and come stay with us and visit with Miss Harper instead. Everyone sure is doing a lot of traveling!

But it does sound that if you stay in place, they come to you. Something to be said for that! ;) Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteWhat a truly adorable girl Harper is! How exciting and sweet to have some time with her. Swift healing to your daughter.
ReplyDeleteXoxo
Barbara
Same here with the traveling - not us, but the daughters and the granddaughters are all going somewhere or other all the time.
ReplyDeleteYour niece is a little beauty and I know she is smart as a whip!
What a beautiful child! Sounds like you have your work cut out for you :) Hope your daughter has a quick and uneventful recovery. It's hard being alone when you're sick. It's one of the things that most bothers me now. Have fun with that little girl!
ReplyDeleteO my goodness! It is a joy to see Harper again! Such a bright spirit thriving on the love of so many family members. Sorry to hear your daughter has Covid and hope she recovers as quickly as possible.
ReplyDeleteLucky you, to have a week with beautiful Miss Harper! She will keep you fully occupied! Hope you take lots of photos. So sorry your daughter has Covid; hope that it’s a mild case and she can come spend some time next week savoring the pleasure of her goddaughter’s company.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy! And let her run the show.
ReplyDeleteSince the very first time I saw a photo of Harper as a tiny baby I have thought she is the most beautiful child ever. Not just beautiful, but likely smart, sassy and filled with promise. The hope of the world. And now I have to hope that as she grows the world will see her as I do and treat her with love and respect. X
ReplyDeleteLook at those beautiful eyes! What a sweetie! Enjoy the visit!!
ReplyDeleteCodex: Happy International Women's Day
ReplyDeleteHave fun with the munchkin. Sorry to hear about your daughter.
That's the danger with traveling so much I guess, or maybe going to large gatherings. Harper is such a doll. Enjoy your time with her.
ReplyDeleteI can see how that little sassy woman baby has crawled right into your hearts. She could not be more adorable. Looking into those eyes, I see vast and mighty intelligence. Enjoy her!
ReplyDeleteAdorable. Based on my activities with my grandkids, some suggestions: teach her how to hold a pencil and draw the basics: lines, the letter S, circles, and dots (which could be fashioned into a ladybug). Read lots of books. Teach her how to say I love you in ASL. Sing songs with made-up lyrics, play keep-the-balloon in the air, have a dance-party. Above all, feel the joy.
ReplyDelete(Sorry your daughter is not feeling well.)
Harper is such a sweetie, I'd love a hug. Your daughter must be so disappointed to miss the fun. I hope she's not too sick. Darn Covid is never going away.
ReplyDeleteShe is darling! Susan
ReplyDeleteWhat a treat to spend a week with that beautiful child. I expect you will have a splendid time together. In my experience you may also need another week to recover…well worth it though! I hope your daughter recovers quickly and can share some of the action.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Enjoy every minute.
ReplyDeleteSorry, anonymous above is Kathy
ReplyDeleteA beautiful child and I hope you are having a fine time and a fine break with her. When I did this with the grandkid, my house looked like an uncleaned daycare by the time the little one left again, and my husband said he never wanted to see another piece of macaroni, but it was a wonderful break from being a grown-up.
ReplyDeleteCovid can still bite us; I hope that was a light dose with no aftereffects.
Thanks for sharing her beautiful self - and you.
That girl is gorgeous. She's not your granddaughter though, right? Honourary grandma?
ReplyDeleteI know one thing for sure, everyone is going to be tired this coming week:) Her parents are lucky to have you guys to help care for her.
