Here are a couple more pictures from the magical trip, where our girl saw not just her sister spirit Henri, but two of her lifers friends, boys with whom she has walked in lockstep since pre-kindergarten. These two both live in LA now. The children of movie industry people, they both found jobs in that field after graduating college. They're all masquerading as grown ups, and yet I look into their faces and still see their precious 4-years-old selves. I don't think that will ever change.
No. It will not change. And aren't they all beautiful?
ReplyDeleteMary, I love gazing at these children. So many memories down through the years.
DeleteLove these pictures! It's so nice to have life long friends!!!
ReplyDeleteDrita, it certainly is!
DeleteWondering if all three friends went to Manhattan Country School.
ReplyDeleteHave just begun reading Begin With A Dream, following your mention of it recently. Our public library didn't have a copy, but I was able to find one through the interlibrary loan system. Heartening to see what we human beings can do when we make a decision to be of service in our communities and simply begin being of service in whatever way we can. So many people stepped forward to help start the school. I am looking forward to spending time with book for the next week or so that it will take me to read it.
Thank you for your photos of our young people! It does my heart good to see them.
am, yes indeed they did attend that wonderful school! In fact all three of these children appear as first graders in a photo on page 186 of the book! See if you can pick them out! I’m so gobsmacked that you’re actually reading the book! So awesome! Gus Trowbridge was truly a visionary. M
DeleteThere is joy in this post .
ReplyDeleteAngela, such joy. That’s why I wanted to post the pics, to have their joy on my page.
DeleteI'll give it a try (-:
ReplyDeleteFrom left to right in the photo above. Could the man on the left be the boy with his hand touching the top of the photo? Could your daughter be the girl closest to the camera with her left arm raised? Could the man on the right be the boy on the right side of the photo with his right hand raised and a watch on his left wrist, directly behind the girl I think might be your daughter?
I'll be recommending the book to friends. It's timely. Thank you so much for letting us know about Gus Trowbridge!
am, right on all counts! You have an excellent eye. So now you know the faces I see when I look at them. They’re still those sweet children at heart. It’s lovely. Thanks for caring about the values of that little school.
DeleteBeautiful young people! They are so lucky to have each other.
ReplyDeletejenny_o, i did something good for my girl when i sent her to that school. those kids see each other as family.
DeleteWould that they could all stay as joyful...
ReplyDeletee, would that they could, but since this is life, would that they may always be able to reclaim that joy, again and again.
DeleteSigh. Two more gorgeous young beings on our streets. I hope I pass them and catch some radiance.
ReplyDeleteElizabeth, I'd say the radiance down the hall from you is blinding and beautiful. xo
