It finally got them

My girl and her love have the Covid. They were supposed to travel on Friday but instead are quarantined at home. He has no symptoms, but she was pretty sick with fever and body aches, sniffles and a dry cough, but she's on the mend now, enough to be suffering from cabin fever. "How did we do this for a whole year?" she wanted to know. Some of us did it for much longer, I told her. She walked her dog Munch in the rain yesterday, and is reading Harry Potter again to pass the time till she's sprung from isolation. Fortunately, the company inside is congenial.

  1. It's good news they are better. I had Covid in September before I got the booster. It's not pleasant. Cute doggo!

    1. Sandra! I remember you. I'm so glad you commented and let me know you're back to blogging. I visited your new blog, This & That, and tried to leave a comment but it wouldn't allow me to type into the comment box. I'm not sure why. In any case it is lovely to see you around the fire again!

  3. At least they're okay and Munch is such a cutie. Is he named after Munch from Law and Order?

    1. Pixie, I don't know Munch from Law and Order. I haven't watched the show in years, though I used to love it. I doubt that's the source of the name, though, as I don't think they watch either.

    1. Linda Sue, I guess it's good they have to walk Munch, a good excuse to leave the house. This thing is eventually coming everyone's way, I think. I only hope its more and more like just another flu, as people vaccinate and immunity spreads.

  5. That is indeed a gorgeous picture of those two beautiful people. Black and white photos have their own power, don't they?
Munch looks so happy. Covid? What's that? Throw the ball, Mama!

    1. Mary, I love that picture of them. I wish we could know that we’re all going to have mild cases from here on. But one still worries about the exceptions. Yes Munch is a happy boy. My girl jokes that his secret is there’s not a thought in his head.

  6. I figure my grandchildren and children too, will all have it eventually because they are out and about. I read awhile ago that an old person, like myself, who is vaccinated is the same as a 50 year old who is not. That is what keeps me away from people still.

    1. Kristin, let's hope all the new variants will be as mild as omicron, for us older folk.

    2. I think Omicron was mild for the vaccinated and boosted, nurse friend of mine saw lots of Omicron deaths of the unvaccinated. And if they ended up on a vent it was basically a death sentence. I remember her being dismayed by how the media downplayed it. It's still worrisome but trying not to live in fear. Kim in PA

  7. On the plus side, having a mild case is preferred over the hospitalized case and better yet, they now have greater antibodies against Covid. As others say, we will all experience Covid. Munch loves his tennis ball game. Such a cutie!

    1. Susan, I comfort myself with the thought of their now superior immunity! Munch of course is unconcerned.

  9. Sublime photo of your daughter and her beloved, confident in their youth and their love.

I wonder if getting COVID is becoming a rite of passage for the young people and even one of my friends who is 79 and got it despite two vaccinations and a booster. She recovered without any lingering problems. My hope is that I never get COVID. Common colds have always been serious for me.

Lastly, there's that irrepressible Munch, a wonder dog, running around in the rain with a smile on his face, fetching a tennis ball!

    1. am, no lingering problems is the key. even mild cases can lead to long covid, I've heard, so may we all escape that.

  15. I am late to the meeting but hoping your daughter and her love are doing well and will soon be back to their usual lives. Yes, I think we will all catch this virus eventually but I'm going to try not to, and keep trying not to, in order to avoid repeat illnesses, which I understand can happen.
