Life was hard for her this time around, but she was bold, unapologetic, heart on her sleeve, a fighter to the end. She offered up her gifts to help leaven the pain, hers and ours. She made her time count.
Two powerful coincidences that evoked even more of a sense of loss within me: I was in Ireland on holiday when she died AND I was reading her memoir. She was an amazing human. If you're not already familiar, I recommend my favourite of her songs: Thank you for Hearing Me.

ReplyDeleteShe did indeed. I just listened to an interview with her on CBC about her memoir. A good listen.
She wanted to make music and communicate hurt and love and all the things that songs can do.
