My Outlander Jones

I finished watching all four seasons of Outlander and immediately went back to the beginning and started again. I think the way Jaime, played by Sam Heughan, loves Claire, played by Caitriona Balfe, is why the series has such a passionate fandom. The scorching chemistry between Jaime and Claire alone keeps you watching. Claire is no damsel in distress, a medicine woman who falls through time and meets her life's true love, a braw Scottish highlander with price on his head. She and Jaime grow together through all manner of trials, historical and personal. I can hardly wait for season 5, which is filming now and debuts next February 16. And no, I am not being paid for this endorsement. I'm just in the habit of recording my current preoccupations here, and Outlander definitely qualifies. Plus, you know, the lead players aren't too hard on the eyes.

Who else is watching, or should I say escaping? Because yes, I am burying my head in binge watching this series for a spell. The news, at home and abroad, is too much to bear.

  1. We are. My only problem with this series (and I hope this makes you laugh) is the way they hike up Claire's breasts. It looks so ungodly painful.

    1. Mary, I know what you mean. I loved the wedding episode in season 1, and the only thing that marred it for me was how trussed up Claire's breasts looked in that corset. I guess they're going for historical accuracy in costuming, but really?

  2. I've had to pull back. I am so horrified by what Trump is doing it's making my afib kick up again. as for Outlander, I have not watched any of the series but I have recently read all 8 books one after the other. some of the stuff the author has them get up to in the later books is a little outlandish.

    1. ellen, sorry to hear about the afib. The state of affairs in government really is making people sick. I will probably read the books at some point, too.

  3. I love the show, but the books are so much better. I'm just getting a little over waiting for her next book in the series. It's been over 2 years since she said she thought it would be published.

    1. Lisa, I imagine it must be hard waiting years for the next installment of the books. I'm having a hard time waiting till next February for the next season of the show.

  4. I read the books and the only thing about the series that I didn't like was that Jamie is supposed to be a huge man, 6'5", so I that disappointed me. Loved the books and escapism seems like a very good idea right now. I'm baking and cookie, that's how I escape:)

    1. Lily, lol binge watching Outlander helps me escape from cookies as well, since that's my usual way of coping with stress, and one I definitely do not need to indulge!

  5. laurie, me too! I watch and re-watch certain favorite episodes almost like a meditation. I think it's irresistible, the way Jaime loves Claire.

  6. I've never watched this show, but will definitely see if I can find a way to see it. My sister has been raving about it to me for a while. She loves it too.

    1. Robin, it's very bingeable. The first two seasons are on Netflix if you don't have Starz.

  7. This whole Outlander phenomenon has bypassed me completely, but I remember Ellen and Ms Moon saying they were reading the books. I guess it's enough for me to know they're out there. I don't need to read/watch it!

    1. Steve, it does seem to appeal more to women, by my unscientific sample, although couples seem to enjoy it, too.

  9. Oh Thank You, I am looking for something new to watch and this sounds perfect. I have Netflix and I really hope that it is on Netflix...
Hon we have to bury our heads in the sand sometimes and escape. I am sorry I have not blogged lately.
I have been in the hospital. It started with my blood pressure sky rocketing and turned into a huge snowball of other stuff. But I am home now and I am better so I think that I am going to go and hunt down Outlander. Hugs xxx
