Another step

There is so much crazy in the news I don't have the heart to write much here. But this guy is doing okay. He's not mad at anyone or anything in that picture. He's just concentrating on calculating the tip on our lunch bill yesterday. That's his face in response, it's quite fierce, resting bitch face we call it, but when he smiles the sun breaks through. Rocks my world every time. Yesterday his doctor cleared him to return to work in December. And at this moment, on this freezing cold day, he is in the kitchen making pumpkin soup.

  1. Wow! I think that is a gorgeous face. I am very sure that you rock his world too.
This is great news that he gets to go back to work, one more step in getting back to the fullness of his life. Congratulations!

    1. robin, the fact that he is making pumpkin soup on a cold day is another sign that he is healing well! it's more than the soup, as i'm sure you knew.

  4. What I see in your husband's face looks like hard-won peace of mind and heart. The love with which you take these portraits shines in every one of them. Good news that he can return to work soon.

  5. He is so handsome and I know that you are so grateful for each and every step which, whether it whispers or shouts, tells you that he is not only okay, but good. Good in that solid sense of which it sounds. Good in that way in which he so obviously is.
Sometimes we just have to let the news of the world take care of itself while we wrap ourselves up in the love of our own. And that is the way it should be.

    1. Ms. Moon, if we allowed ourselves to take it all in, all the time, i think we would be hollowed out shells. Better to fill ourselves with all the love close to home. I'm sure it ripples outward. The love from your corner of the world certainly ripples outward to us all! I bask in it. xo

  6. When the crises are over, it is astonishing to look back and see how far we've come, isn't it? I'm glad things are going well. My RBF looks a lot like that too! I think when we get to a certain age we ALL look like that when we're not smiling :)

    1. Steve, I think he is finally getting to the point where daytime TV isn't cutting it anymore, even if they do run endless episodes of Stargate in the days. who knew? He will look back and remember that Stargate was his companion in recovery.
