Kimberly, yes, i still see these open faces, her eyes steady and calming, his eyes curious and questing, their very souls shining. Be still my poor heart.
those little faces, such angels! they couldnt be messing up the apartment!
my son still leaves a trail like pigpen when he comes to visit, at almost 37. last time he came up with his girlfriend, he was pacing back & forth in the living room looking for his socks, and his girlfriend and i locked eyes...and gave each other the same look of "oh my god, he's impossible, but i love him."
Susan, I LOVE that story about your son's girlfriend and you exchanging that knowing look. I did have a suspicion that it doesn't change much from the current state of affairs and you just confirmed it! But they do manage their lives anyway, this is good to remember. I think in their parent's house, they might revert a bit. Still, my son got a job! One week out of school and he's been hired. So the hurricane of clothes notwithstanding, something is working okay.
Oh we know that.
ReplyDeleteMary, had to say it just in case. xo
DeleteThere's nothing to do but gasp and then smile at that photo --
ReplyDeleteElizabeth, i have the same response! You know a mother's heart.
DeleteOh my goodness. Is this what you see still when you look at them together? How can you not?

DeleteThere was never any doubt. I love how you can keep it real without it being whiny.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I wonder how I would be different if I'd had a mother's love like you have for your children. You are such a gift to them and to this world.
NOLA, glad I don't sound whiny to your ear, lol. Thank you for that kind comment! xo
