I have trouble settling on backsplashes I like. I seem partial to plain white subway tiles, but I think I also like this one, which offers a little more oomph, but is still subtle. This could work with white Shaker cabinets and some sort of light gray countertop, no? Thoughts?
That is lovely!
ReplyDeleteThanks, am!
DeleteThat's super pretty, but I think the white subway tiles are the prettiest.
ReplyDeleteElizabeth, I always feel like you cant go wrong with while subway tiles.
DeleteI like it! Much nicer than " subway tiles", they always make me think of public toilets!
ReplyDeleteFrances, they have some lovely subway tiles with a kind of raised relief these days. I'll post a picture if I can find one that shows what I mean.
DeleteI like these tiles very much. Neutral but with a pattern. It would work very well.
ReplyDeletePixie, these tiles are often used for the floor of walk in showers, but I kind of like them as a backsplash, too.
DeleteI like it!
ReplyDeleteSteve, me too!
DeleteTry looking at the white subway tiles that have a wavy texture. Still shiny and easy to clean, but they pick up and reflect light better than the flat ones. I had mine installed last fall and still love them (as do all my visitors!) Good luck with your reno!
ReplyDeleteBarbara, that sounds lovely! Can you email me a picture of what you mean? I'm at 37paddington at gmail dot com.
DeleteHave you seen the almost transparent glass tiles? I am currently in love with them. But just on a fantasy basis as I am not redoing a kitchen. I do very much like the ones you picture though.
ReplyDeleteMary, I'm off to google and pinterest glass tiles right now!
DeleteI like the tile you have pictured here. I think it looks lovely. I'm going to google around and see what transparent glass tiles look like. There are so many choices these days!
ReplyDeleteWhatever is easiest to clean would be my pick! You have done a lovely job of decorating your home. I am sure whatever you decide on will look terrific!
ReplyDeleteI like the hex tiles. The subtle color variations give it more interest than plain white which I think with white cabinets would be too boring. Choosing the tile was the hardest part of our two bathroom renovations.
ReplyDeleteI think it would work really well and be nice and bright.
ReplyDeleteI like them! My reasoning is the same as ellen abbott's. I'm glad I'm not making the decisions for anything like this because I get so overwhelmed by all the choices. If someone would just say "here are five and that's all the choice you get" it would suit me fine :)
ReplyDeleteI do like the hexagonal tiles. I also like subway tiles. Apparently, I am of no use in the decision making process. Whatever you pick will be lovely.
ReplyDeletethese tiles have subtle, but real, visual interest. I love all the colors.
ReplyDeleteI like the tiles and think they would be lovely with white shaker cabinets. I've seen glass tiles and they are worth considering too. The light bounces off them and this adds to the decor. Will you have under cabinet lighting? This lights your counter workspace and reflects nicely on the back splash.
ReplyDeleteI love these. Not in your face, but break up the monochrome rest of it. Assuming you get monochrome countertop. Also not as likely to show the dirt as pure white. (When we did our kitchen, my first priority was floor and countertop tile where dirt wouldn't shout at you...And used smooth foot-square tiles for the countertops; to accommodate bad habit of putting hot frying pans on vulnerable surfaces. I've been very happy, a dozen years. Of course I don't mind that the grout has gotten a lot darker.)
ReplyDeleteDoing a kitchen is agonizing but exciting...
