Number one on the list!

I'm grateful to have been a part of this work, which my subject and I collaborated on in the deepest sense of the word. She gave her all, and then some. I'm grateful, too, for a publishing team full of grace, with every person involved operating from a place of love. But the credit for this bestselling berth goes most fully and completely to the Justice, who is having a magnificent book tour, and who is being enthusiastically received by book-buying audiences everywhere. People understand so clearly the historic nature of her appointment, indeed of her very being. The photo of the street mural depicting our Justice and her hero, Judge Constance Baker Motley, the first Black woman to be appointed to the federal bench, was taken by Jamia Wilson, the book's wonderful editor.

  10. I just finished my first run through Lovely One. I have a method of reading quickly through once and then rereading, if I enjoyed the book, a second time, slowly, savouring.
I did more than just enjoy Lovely One. It is just a beautiful book in every way. Alas that I am now not savouring, as my best reading friend ripped it out of my hand and is now lost in her own reading.
I am so very impressed, awed in fact, at this collaboration. It is quite clear that the whole thing is in just one voice (and having done collaboration, I know how tough that is to maintain). And a wonderful, clear and informative voice. She is a class lady and you, you are a class facilitator. It is flawless. The transitions, the narrative structure, the level of language positioning, all as close to perfection as possible.
On my second reading, and subsequent, I am going to look at the language choices more closely. I think I see your hand in, for instance, the water images in the opening. But I was too enthralled to really pay attention. What a class act she is and how she deserves the height to which her effort and the times have lifted her.
So very well drawn. Thank you for this. That this lady has thrived gives me hope for our world and that you have contributed to showing her to us and I have the honour of being able to thank you, priceless.
