Wish me

I appear to be sick with something. Perhaps it's just a cold. It's useless to say I never get colds, because I seem to be rather wracked with one now. People say if you have a runny nose, which I did have the first couple of days, it's not covid. But that might be a myth, according the research I was doing on Dr. Google at 4 a.m. last night when I couldn't sleep. My eyes hurt, but I don't have a fever, so that's a check for the plus column.

I'm not too sick to work, and so I am pressing on with the book. I have been making good progress, and am now at 82K words, just three thousand more to make word count. It's now apparent that I will blow right past word count, as I probably have more than 3K words of the story still to tell. I'm at the point of jettisoning all sorts of ideas and trying to figure out where to end what is essentially an ongoing story, one that changes not just daily, but hourly. Wish me inspiration, please.

How are you all doing out there? I won't even talk about the national nightmare that is the president. Every time he comes on our TV screen we change the channel. I just can't. I did read that a doctor in Italy said they were no longer treating people over 60 for covid. And the Lieutenant Governor of Texas seems to think that might not be such a bad idea.

Real talk? I'm scared. More than I have been able to admit until this moment, right here. I don't want to die before seeing my grandchildren. I don't want my husband to get sick. Or anyone I love. Or anyone. Wish me courage, wish me faith, please.

  1. I wish you ALL of those things and I know you will live long enough to see your grandchildren. You will. You will. I love you.

  3. Wise to tune out that person on TV..and do remember that the vast majority of people who get the virus don't get critically ill, so there's that. I suspect a lot of us with normal spring allergies are very alarmed this year, fearing that every cough is ominous. But it isn't. And I wish you calm, peace of mind, and good work.

  4. Wishing you all of that and a speedy recovery. It’s so hard not to fear the worst.

  5. I wish you inspiration, and better health soon. I, too, have aching eye balls - what's up with that? That and a stuffy nose. My daughter and her husband are now sick and have been told by their doc to stay at home for the next two weeks. With two young ones to care for, it's going to be daunting.

I, too, refuse to watch the crazy man on television. He says nothing worthwhile and has to be corrected by the scientists. What's the point?

  6. I've had a raspy throat for about 10 days and my eyes feel too big for my head. I'm blaming it all on the steenking yellow bushes that are lobbing pollen everywhere. Every sneeze makes me jumpy. I hope, I truly do hope, you're fine and that we're all fine. Stout heart, dear one.

  7. Sending you loads and loads of courage and love. Better health will come. I have had a runny nose kind of cold with aching limbs for ages and wake up every morning hopeful and go to bed every night thinking this is it.
But I have seen and heard real Covid 19 patients (not in person) and I know it's not me, not us.
Also, bear in mind that in the majority of cases, this virus causes only a mild respiratory disease. If you want to be on the safe side, stay home/away from people for two weeks.

Nevertheless, we have sorted our living wills, we have checked our power of attorney, we did pack essentials should we/one of us need to go into hospital, made sure we both have the right access to bank accounts etc. If only to feel sort of prepared.

  9. I wish you all that and more. can you hold your breath for 20 seconds without pain? I read that's an early indicator if you can't because this is a lung disease, not upper respiratory. and it is allergy season after all. I can't listen to Trump either. whine whine whine, everybody hates me. me me me. he's bored with this toy, ready to send us all back out to spread contagion. he wants his stock market back and to hell with the individual citizens in this country.

  10. Sending you love and virtual hugs, wishing you no exposure to COVID 19, strength and fortitude. I am in the same boat but older and alone, and apparently among those certain politicians feel should die for the economy. Hugs. You will get better.

  12. It is a scary time, for all of us! I am sure you'll be fine. If you don't have a fever it's unlikely to be COVID, especially with the nasal symptoms -- at least, from what I've heard. Thinking of you!

  13. Wishing you healthy days in the very near future, 37p. Having a vivid imagination can be a curse as well as a blessing. Steady on, and take one day at a time. One hour at a time, if necessary. Work is a good antidote to worry, especially if it is the immersive kind that occupies your mind as well. Hugs, my friend.

  15. I can understand how worried you must be. Hopefully this is only a mild cold or a seasonal thing. I'm not listening to a single word that crazy man says. He's unhinged and cares not one bit about anyone but himself and his almighty dollar. I have never despised him more. Keep us posted on how you're feeling, R -- we need you!

  16. I would say self isolate but you already are. Take care, sending hugs and love.

  17. You have given me faith and courage many times through your blog and through the books you have written. I look forward to each book you write. My upper respiratory cold that began on March 4 is lingering in terms of a negatively altered sense of physical well-being but my spiritual energy for blogging is returning. Now I am sharing my faith and courage with you. You and your family are dear to me. Love is real. Eternal. What Love has given us, no one can take away.

  18. Just saw Cuomo's latest press conference. What a difference from Trump! But not very positive news. Nonetheless the chances are good that you don't have the Covid, and even if you do the chances are still fairly good you'll come thru OK. Which is all cold comfort--of course you're worried. Wishing you the best luck.

  19. Sending you love and hugs during these difficult times. Take care of yourself and try to keep tabs on your symptoms and any changes. Rest and meditate when you can. I feel the same as you about the President. I just can't with him anymore.
