Younger

Every time I go searching for old photos, I run across fascinating artifacts. This is the woman my husband married twenty-six years ago. That's me a month after our wedding. I was twenty-nine. Aging sucks. Sometimes I study these photographs of my younger self to reconnect to the knowledge that this wonderful life of mine, it really happened. And is happening still.

  1. I know this feeling -- and you continue to be a beacon of beauty, Angella -- no less now than before.

  2. I know it too. I try to remember my inner self is the same as it was in those old photos and my memory, but sometimes that just makes me sigh.

  3. Well, I for one do not think of myself as being the same inside as I was when I was younger. I am different. I am perhaps wiser, I am less tolerant of some things, far more about others, and as filled with doubt about myself as I ever was.
We are humans. We age. Dammit.
We grow into different sorts of beauty, though. I believe that.

  5. Gorgeous; reminds me of that famous Kertész but more relaxed.

  6. I sometimes cringe at my younger self and the shenanigans she pulled. I suppose I'll be doing the same thing to 'this' self in ten years. haha.

But weren't we beautiful in our youth, and yes you still are.

    xoxo

  7. "Happening still" -- that's the important thing!

When I see photos of myself at 20, it's like looking at another person. And in so many ways, it IS another person. Fortunately I'm happy with my current incarnation!

  8. Aging hasn't been so tough on you! All of your past incarnations are there like facets on a gemstone. One of the wonders of this photo is that I see intimations of both your children in that face. Isn't life a wonder?

  10. You were gorgeous then and you are more gorgeous now, filled with wisdom along with your physical beauty. I wish we wouldn't be so hard on ourselves but I know we all do it. At least us girls!!!

  11. Angella, you asked about my new camera. It's a Canon EOS 5D Mark III. And I hope it serves me for many years to come!
