Dichotomies

I had a meeting today in that gorgeous building. Imagine going to work every day in a place that looks like that. The architecture is simply stunning, the light streaming in almost celestial. And yes, that's Virginia Woolf watching over it all, Virginia who famously said, "A woman must have money and a room of one's own..." Lately, in the pursuit of income to sustain a room of my own, I worry about being too exposed here, and whether I should close this space down. Ugh.

  1. I would hire you in a minute, just from our blog interactions.

But that said, when my blog was recently found out it was less than pleasant. We do have to protect ourselves.

  2. Lord I hope you don't quit blogging. But of course it is your choice to make and I would understand under the circumstances.
As to your friend- from what I understand, that type of breast cancer is the one to get if you're going to get it. Some say that it is not what you will die from if you have it. I hope this is true. I hope the best for her in all ways.

  3. Angella - I would miss your posts and your thoughtful, incredible writing should you take a break from your blog but I definitely understand the dilemma of work people finding a blog where you want to be honest - a huge reason I do not blog. I wish you well in your decision and I wish your friend well too. I can tell you are a reliable, good friend and person and you will find the work you want in time. Sweet Jo

  4. I don't think you've written anything here that would give anyone pause about hiring you. But I can certainly understand the need for a break now and then.

  5. I'm sorry about your friend, but so glad about your niece. I've been thinking about her and hoping things were getting better for her.

That is a truly gorgeous building. I would think it would be inspiring to work in a place that looked like that.

You might want to consider having your son pretend to be a potential new boss and try googling you. If he can't turn up this blog, then they wouldn't be able to, either. I don't blame you for being careful, but I think you've done a good job of staying anonymous, at least to people who don't already know you in real life.

  6. I too, am paranoid about revealing much on my blog and only recently just started putting up my own pictures and even hinting about my work in healthcare -I resisted for a long time but as it started consuming the nation, it started consuming me and I couldn't not write about it.

Frankly, I would want to hire you MORE after reading your blog and I'm not just blowing smoke here. Anyone with such a sharp eye and way with words would be an excellent addition to any team. Now I sound like a football coach.

Anyway, take a break if you feel it best but we'd miss your words!

  7. You express so well the feelings of this baby boomer dealing with an ailing mother, grown children and the complexities of living. I understand if you decide to take a break from blogging but I will miss my visits at 37 Paddington.

  9. I know exactly what you mean. Moving to a small town has been difficult for my blogging.

Oh, Angella. Any employer would be so deeply blessed to have you. I know you will find the right thing.
